Wedding Enquiry at St Mary's Church

Congratulations on your engagement!

St Mary’s Church has recently been restored as a place of beauty and worship in the life of the Lower North Adelaide community. We are pleased to offer the Church to the wider community for Catholic marriages.

The Church offers a unique blend of a modern liturgical environment in a thoughtfully restored heritage building. The space that has been created is beautiful, hospitable and is an inviting assembly place for your wedding ceremony. The Church seats approximately150 guests in an intimate space. A flexible open area in the sanctuary means most current wedding arrangements can be accommodated. The Church is air-conditioned and has full wheel-chair access.

What You Need To Do Before Booking a Church for your wedding

Couples who wish to celebrate their wedding in St Mary's are asked to give at least 6 months notice so that there is adequate time for preparation.

Terms and Conditions

In order to maintain the Church in good order some general rules have been put in place for the benefit of all users. You are asked to read and note these conditions.

  • CELEBRANT: You are asked to arrange for your own celebrant (priest or deacon). He will need to sign the enclosed Form A.
  • CONFETTI: St Mary’s does not allow confetti, rice, rose petals or similar tokens to be used inside the church or in the church grounds. It is your responsibility to ensure that your guests are informed of this condition.
  • MUSIC: The Church is equipped with a modern sound system including an amplifier and a facility to connect a MP3 (iPod) player. There is no organ or piano however portable musical instruments are welcome. Musicians are asked to provide their own amplification (if necessary)
  • PEWS: Flowers or bows may be tied to or hung on the end of the pews (no sticking, pinning or blue tack). Please remove pew decorations immediately after the service.
  • FLOWERS: As the altar is the centre of the ceremony and the table for the offertory it should be kept clear of flowers or other decorations. St Mary’s has vases and pedestals that can be placed around the sanctuary. You are welcome to bring your own floral arrangements and are free (but not obliged) to leave these in the Church. There may be another wedding planned for the same day and so it may be possible to arrange for flowers to be shared. Please contact the Church Wedding Coordinator for contact details of the other party.
  • ACCESS: For access to the church for rehearsals, photographer’s planning session, flower planning and installation please contact the Church Wedding Coordinator. Your cooperation in coordinating these visits would be appreciated.
  • TIMING: The church is available at all times and on all days with the exception of Sunday mornings. Under normal circumstances a 2-hour interval between weddings is allowed, however, should you desire a longer time please discuss this with the Church Wedding Coordinator.

Photographers

A wedding at St. Mary’s is a joyful Christian ceremony. An atmosphere of dignity and quiet reverence is encouraged to enable all to sense the presence of God and to appreciate the deepest meaning of what is taking place. Distracting or intrusive activity and unnecessary bright lights can detract from the occasion. Only the official photographer should approach the sanctuary during the ceremony. Photographers are requested to be respectful and discreet at all times in the Church.

  • CHURCH: The Church is made available for a fee of $500 payable at the time of booking.
  • BOND: A confetti bond of $100, also payable at the time of booking, will be refunded if no confetti is used or no other damage is caused to the Church.
