Jazzy focus on the elderly

The Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network has released the latest Pope Video, reflecting Pope Francis' December prayer intention, which is for the elderly, Zenit reports.

The Pope's prayer intention is "That the elderly, sustained by families and Christian communities, may apply their wisdom and experience to spreading the faith and forming the new generations."

The network’s website offers various commentaries and ideas for joining in the Pope’s prayers.

The video shows a young musician passing several elderly people on the street, then jazz music coming from a building. When the young man enters, he finds those people he passed engaged in a serious jam session – which is he invited to join.

The Pope’s words on the video – subtitles in English – cite the importance of the elderly in sharing their wisdom and spreading the faith.

The full text of The Pope Video for December follows:

A people that does not take care of grandparents, that does not treat them well has no future!

The elderly have wisdom.

They are entrusted with a great responsibility: to transmit their life experience, their family history, the history of a community, of a people.

Let us keep in mind our elders, so that sustained by families and institutions, may with their wisdom and experience collaborate in the education of new generations.
